Strathcona CPC delivers Overdose Awareness and Naloxone Training to UBC Rotoract clubs

On March 13 and March 19, your Strathcona CPC delivered workshops to two groups of young professionals from the Rotoract Club.

The Overdose Awareness and Naloxone course provides participants with a brief overview on the challenges our community faces with regards to overdoses. Why they occur, how, and how to assist in the event of one. The course will also educate you on different types of substances, how they impact the body, and what ones cause an overdose that can be reversed through Naloxone or Narcan.

After the theoretical portion of the course, participants then had a chance to use a real Naloxone kit, and practice injecting naloxone into a dummy. Each participant left the course with their very own take home Naloxone kit.

The Strathcona CPC offers this course by donation various times throughout the year in Strathcona, or on a by request basis. To request this course for your group, please contact Dan Turvill (danturvill@strathconacpc.ca).
