PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT - Strathcona Food Delivery

This week we highlight one of our favourite programs, our Strathcona Food Delivery program brought to you in partnership with the RayCam Co-Operative Centre.

This program delivers meals and groceries to isolated and low income seniors living in Strathcona. Food security is a basic human right to us here at the Strathcona CPC. No one should go hungry in a city like Vancouver. So, keeping with our mission to work as a community to ensure the safety of everyone living here, we are thrilled to be able to support this program with Ray-Cam.

Many seniors feel isolated in Strathcona, especially during the past two years when it was unsafe for them to be in crowded areas like supermarkets or restaurants. Also, for new Canadians for whom english is their second language, who lack social connections here, and are new to our culture and environment here in Canada. This program helps to make them feel more connected to their new community, introduces them to our smiling volunteers, and brings a small level of comfort, joy and security.

This program operate on Tuesdays and Thursday every single week. If you live in Strathcona and you want to volunteer for this program delivering meals and meeting more members of your community, come and see us! Or visit our Volunteering page to apply.
